EZRA'S EVIL TWIN It is a little known, but much talked about, fact that Ezra has a twin named Jonathan Harris. Ezra won't talk about him so if you ever have the opportunity to speak with Ezra directly, we recommend you avoid the subject. We have also included samples of his (Jonathan's) writings for those interested in sampling his abilities. Just follow the links. Jonathan's story is below. While he claims to have "no hard feelings" toward his successful actor brother, those in the know say otherwise. "They haven't spoken in years." Says their mother Rachel, who lives in the Midwest and was more than happy to tell tales out of school. "I'm not sure what caused all the rancor," she claims, "but I know it didn't have anything to do with me. They both love me unconditionally and I love them equally. Though I do think it's nice that Ezra's done so well with his acting out there in Hollywood. Why, if it weren't for Ezra, I wouldn't have this trailer. But Jonathan's done well for himself too. I'm proud of them both." If "well for himself" could be described as being nationally recognized as the founder of the two major Fringe Theatre Festivals in the United States, then, yes, he's done well for himself. In 1990, Jonathan was one of the Founders of the first Fringe Theatre Festival in the U.S. in Seattle, Washington. The Seattle Fringe Festival has experienced overwhelming success and is one of the most popular arts events in that city's history. "Will I ever see any money from that?" Asks Jonathan. "Sure. The day the moon falls from the sky and wild monkeys fly outa my ass. And even then they'd probably write me a bad check." In 1994, Jonathan returned to New York City and was one of the three Founding Artistic Directors of the First Annual New York International Fringe Festival. He served in the capacity of National Representative as well. Jonathan left the organization in the first year due to an "unresolvable disagreement over a change in the original adjudication process" which decided what local, national and international artists would be accepted. "The whole process was flushed down the toilet by the other two artistic directors." Jonathan sneers. "I was outta there." One of Jonathan's original goals for the NY Fringe was to have a fringe production end up on Broadway within five years. That happened in 2000 with "Urinetown" which had its premiere at the New York Fringe Festival. His departure had one high ranking organizer lament "There goes the Festival's integrity." He was right. Jonathan left New York City for Los Angeles where, as fate would have it, he ran into his twin brother at The Silver Spoon restaurant in West Hollywood. Ezra was sitting with Shelly Winters, Sally Kirkland, Martin Landau and Robert Forster when his evil twin entered the patio. By both accounts the encounter was cordial but cool. The luminaries sitting at Ezra's table were confounded by the fact that he had a twin and were slightly offended that they were offered no introduction. "I thought I was seeing double!" Says Miss Winters. "Downright rude, is what it was." Counters Mr. Landau. Jonathan is now living in Los Angeles and enjoying his life in theatrical semi-retirement. "Art sucks!" is all he offers when asked about his directing/producing career. He's turned his formidable talents to writing lately. He just finished his first full-length screenplay called "Hollywood Sucks - An Horrific Comedy" which he is shopping around town. "It's about Vampires in the film industry. It's a work of non-fiction.
